Antique Evangelical Lutheran Prayer book in German. Bound in blue velvet with sterling silver edges and on clasp. Front of book has a sterling silver nameplate with the inscription "Sophie Sauer" in fancy script. On the fly leaf is handwritten "Miss Sophia Sauer Red Bud, IL". End pages are intricately decorated and the book pages are gilt edged.
Sophie Sauer was born 10/26/1879 in Prairie Du Long, Monroe County, IL to Caroline and Philip Sauer. She married Jacob Earle in 1901, died on 8/08/1950 and is buried in St. John's Cemetery in Red Bud, Randolph County, IL.
